Rethinking Traceability
Have you noticed those logos on certain items at the grocery store?

These are just a few examples of voluntary standards, which companies may choose to adopt to indicate higher environmental or social responsibility. How can something voluntary be scaled?
My work has included sustainable global seafood production, responsible sourcing, and coastal resilience. However, a brand certifying their raw materials isn’t straightforward. Seafood supply chains are incredibly complicated, as shown below. Products often pass through multiple middlemen and countries, making it very difficult to trace “from bait to plate.”
